Charlotte’s Monthly Diary: September

Hi and welcome to another monthly diary! I know, I was originally planning on doing a monthly diary every month, but life was so busy for the past couple of months and I completely forgot to write blogposts. This time I’m back for real, and I’m really hoping to write more blogposts regularly and actually write a monthly diary monthly, just like the title says. Do read along if you’d like to find out what I’ve been up to this September!

For the past month I’ve been trying to get my life back on track. Summer was really hectic and a lot has happened, but I’m so happy to be back writing and taking photos again. I feel so much better than a couple of months ago, maybe because the colder weather has arrived and with it my favourite season: fall. There’s just something about this season that makes me really happy. The rainy afternoons, early evenings with lots of fairy lights and candles to make it cozy, blankets and comfy sweaters and pumpkins: I just love everything about fall.

I’ve also been redecorating my entire bedroom in September, which took me a couple of weeks, and a lot has changed. It feels so much more like me, now, with lots of plants, cozy lights, pillows on my bed and little photographs of happy moments on my wall. It’s really become my own little space where I just love to unwind after a long day.

I’m feeling happy and comfortable and I can’t wait to see what October has in store for me!

September’s book haul & Books I’ve read in September

My September book haul consists of four books, one of which was a preorder: the Waterstones edition of Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff. I haven’t read the series yet, but it’s been on my TBR list since what feels like forever and I’m really hoping to read the books this fall! I feel like fall is also the perfect time to read fantasy again. During the summer I loved reading light contemporaries, but I think I’m ready to read more fantasy as well now.

The second book I bought is Frankly in Love by David Yoon. I’ve heard so much about this book, I’ve seen it everywhere on Bookstagram! Naturally I just had to get it as well when I read that synopsis, it sounds so good. I really look forward to reading it soon.

The third book I got is a young adult fantasy book that I received from the Dutch publisher, it’s called Nocturna by Maya Motayne.  I’ve also heard a lot about this book and I’m super excited to read it soon!

The fourth book I got is a Dutch book called Dance or Die by Chinouk Thijssen. It’s the final book in a trilogy and I finished it the day after I received it. I didn’t read a lot of books in September because I was so busy with a lot of other things, the only book I finished was Dance or Die, which I gave it four stars. I really enjoyed reading it, it’s a young adult thriller and the last novel in a trilogy series. I really didn’t see that ending coming and it had me on the edge of my seat!

I’m really hoping that October will be a better reading month for me and that I’ll finish more than one book.

Bookstagrammers in the Spotlight

Just as I did in my first monthly diary, I’ve chosen three more of my favourite Bookstagrammers to spread the book love. Their accounts are so beautiful, so check them out and give them some love. Here they are, not in any particular order:

  1. @booknerd_reads: Jill’s account really inspires me. Her photos are so colourful and the doodles she adds really give her feed a unique touch!
  2. @bookishsolace: Lara from Bookishsolace is so kind and talented. Her photos are so cozy, with lots of warm, brownish colours: perfect for fall!
  3. @stefiereads: Stefie’s photos are really warm and make me want to cozy up in bed with lots of blankets and pillows. Her account is so inspiring, and she also makes lovely bookmarks over on her Etsy shop that you should definitely check out: WhiteSaturdayCo.

September’s blogposts

  1. September 1st: Music I’ve been listening to this summer • a playlist

And that’s it for this month’s Monthly Diary! I’m really hoping to start posting more frequently and keep up with the Monthly Diaries every month. I hope you enjoyed reading and let me know in the comments below if you have any questions!

Dear Charlotte! How busy you have been and so much you have done! Redecorating your room and all that has happened in your life, yes that takes a lot of time and energy!
Now, fall has arrived and yes, that is also definitely my favorite season! So comfy and cozy and to snuggle up with a blanket, a cup of tea and a good read is just perfect to spent a rainy afternoon on the couch.
Enjoy all what is good in your life Charlotte and I wish you all the best and lots of good books to read.
I also will check out the accounts you have recommanded!

I am so ready for everything fall-themed and cozy. And you’re so right about fall being absolutely perfect for reading fantasy (although I tend to read that all year long). It looks like you have some amazing books on your TBR. I am planning on picking up Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo soon.

Me too, I love everything cozy about fall! I tend to read more contemporary when it’s spring/summer, but fantasy is definitely my go-to genre when it’s fall and winter. Enjoy reading Ninth House! ❤️
